I could have done without some of the frustrations at the end over COVID (and I 100% agree with Mr. Lots of outdoorsy stuff, but different outdoorsy stuff (hiking/rafting, farming, RVing) which kept it moving and interesting. In his new book,Nick takes a humorous, inspiring, and elucidating trip to Americas trails, farms, and frontier to examine the people who inhabit the land. Celebrities! They’re just like us!) It was fun to understand just how RVing works, how fancy some RV parks can be, and that celebrities have issues with problematic family members about COVID crap too. It was fun to hear about their issues with the Airstream (turns out Nick is not as handy as his TV alter-ego Ron Swanson. Alongside his wife, Megan Mullally, they buy an Airstream and decide to drive out to visit their families (hers: Nebraska, his: Illinois). While he’s in the UK filming, he takes a train to visit them and very happily gets to work right away, helping to reconstruct a stone wall the sheep pushed over, among other things. Next, he spends time with some new friends he meets after following them online and reading a book about their farm. The first part of the book is about going on a hiking/rafting trip out West with his best buds, George Saunders and Jeff Tweedy (and it should blow your mind that these three men are best friends.) It was fun, but I was a tad worried the whole book would just be about hiking, and I shouldn’t have been. Not only am I able to get to a heck of a lot more non-work audiobooks than print, but also actors are especially good narrators. Offerman’s books and I bought this for my husband for Christmas (don’t worry, he doesn’t read my reviews) and so we have it, and yet I wanted to hear him read it to me.
